February 16th Prayers

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.  Psalm 23:2

Sheep are peculiar animals. They are by nature flocking creatures and will instinctively follow a leader, even to their demise. The psalmist pictures the Lord as the Good Shepherd who leads His flock to pastures where they can eat and rest and to quiet waters where they can drink and be refreshed. Jesus Himself says, “I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11a). He abundantly provides for our daily needs. He does not lead us to dried-up pastures with dangerous waters, but lovingly leads us to green pastures with still waters. In Jesus we will never be lacking. In Jesus we will never be in want. God promises … those who seek the Lord lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10b).

Commission on Inter-Church Relations – Lord God, bless the WELS Commission on Inter-Church Relations as they work to preserve and strengthen the bond of confessional fellowship with church bodies already in our fellowship and to extend the bond of fellowship with churches where we find unity in doctrine and practice. Thank you that in the past two years so many church groups from Africa, Asia, and Latin America are requesting fellowship with our synod. Continue to build your church around the world, Lord Jesus, and bless WELS Inter-Church Relations as it works diligently to strengthen these relationships. Amen.

For our Members:

  • Ruth Goeden had a stroke last week that could have been devastating. The doctors were able to administer a drug quickly that restored most if not all of her functioning.  We praise you, along with her husband Armand and daughters Karen and Tina, that you have kept her safe through this time of trial.  If it is your will restore her completely and allow her time to heal.
  • Jim Hahn whose surgery went well and he has returned home stable and feeling much better. Grant him relief and joy as he praises you for his improvement.
  • Terry Schiessl ended up in the hospital down in Texas with some concerns with her heart . We ask for your continued protection and direction as they address these concerns medically.

For Extended Family and friends:

  • We pray for Annette Diener’s mom, Janet Oswald, hospitalized with pneumonia and other complications as a result of an infection and fall. Our thanks and appreciation, our faithful God, for guarding her and keeping her safe. If it is Your will we ask for healing, strengthening and recovery from her illnesses.
  • Hilde Miller’s aunt Brenda has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. We join the family in praying for God’s guidance through the valleys of this disease.
  • Pam Vroman’s Parents Marge & Harold Buelow while they recover from 2 health issues and to bless them as Harlold turns 95.
  • Lord, as a friend of Pete Suelflow, Rick, is struggling with a diagnosis of terminal cancer, draw him close to you, that he may find true peace and comfort in your gracious promises.
  • Lord, Please surround Rick, a friend of Tim Crosslen with your love, as his is close to going to heaven. Give him peace as he clings to his Savior.
