February 23rd Prayers

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.
Hebrews 10:24-25a

It’s sometimes hard to go out in public with a little one. Church services with quiet times for confession, reflection, and prayer can be especially difficult. It is usually during those times at church when “little miss” decides to add her thoughts on the matter. The author of Hebrews implores us not to give up meeting together even when it might seem like the “easy” thing to do when our children are little. Instead of staying away, God wants us to hear His Word, partake of the sacraments, and have fellowship with other Christians. In addition, participating in worship and Christian education will also provide a firm foundation for our babies. We should not neglect meeting with other Christians. We need the encouragement Christian fellowship provides; and our love and faithfulness may be just the encouragement another father / mother needs.

Multi-Language Publications – Heavenly Father, be with our brothers and sisters in Africa as they work with WELS Multi-Language Publications to develop ministry materials in the many different languages used by the people around them. Guard the process against challenges including tight budgets, illnesses, and armed conflict. May the work on these publications progress quickly for the purpose of bringing more of your people into your kingdom. Amen.

For our Members:

  • Special prayers come this week for Dawn Bley as she celebrates a milestone birthday. Lord, as you have so richly blessed her in the past, now we ask you to continue your outpouring on her life, her family and her extended family.  Grant her many years ahead to cherish your love, your presence in Word & Sacrament.
  • Ruth Goeden had a stroke last week that could have been devastating. The doctors were able to administer a drug quickly that restored most if not all of her functioning.  We praise you, along with her husband Armand and daughters Karen and Tina, that you have kept her safe through this time of trial.  If it is your will restore her completely and allow her time to heal.

For Extended Family and friends:

  • We pray for Annette Diener’s mom, Janet Oswald, hospitalized with pneumonia and other complications as a result of an infection and fall. Our thanks and appreciation, our faithful God, for guarding her and keeping her safe. If it is Your will we ask for healing, strengthening and recovery from her illnesses.
  • Hilde Miller’s aunt Brenda has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. We join the family in praying for God’s guidance through the valleys of this disease.
  • Pam Vroman’s Parents Marge & Harold Buelow while they recover from 2 health issues and to bless them as Harold turns 95.
  • Lord, as a friend of Pete Suelflow, Rick, is struggling with a diagnosis of terminal cancer, draw him close to you, that he may find true peace and comfort in your gracious promises.
  • Lord, Please surround Rick, a friend of Tim Crosslen with your love, as his is close to going to heaven. Give him peace as he clings to his Savior.

Additional Prayers:

Carol Berg (mother to 8 children, several who are members) has been fighting a serious respiratory issue, which turned out to be influenza A.  Her numbers are improving dramatically and it looks like she might be able to return home in a few days.  We praise you Lord for you love and protection, and for the support which Carol’s family have shown her.

Tom Ade had a setback which went from potentially very bad to good in a 24 hour timeframe.  He will have surgery on an absyss this afternoon, but should be able to return home by Wednesday, Lord willing.  We thank you Lord for the good news and ask that he might gain some strength and healing soon.
